Here at Lakeside Cottages, some of the best fishing in Europe is right on your doorstep, where you have 740km of the Shannon Erne Waterway to explore.
Hundreds of lakes and hidden bends shaded by trees are just right to sit and wait for that perfect fish to bite, whether its Trout, Bream or any of the many varieties found around here. Access to these lakes is very good, the fish are all wild and the fishing is free. Two lakes per day could be fished every day for a fortnight, in the local area, without repetition.
Our own lake, Lough Scur offers Pike, Perch, Breem, perch and hybrids. The cottages are situated within a necklace of lakes of all shapes and sizes, having one thing in common, a plentiful supply of fish
For the trout and salmon anglers, fabled Lough Melvin, with its unique stock of salmon, sea, ferox, brown and gillaroo trout and its attached river, The Drowse, which returns the first salmon every year, are less than an hour away by car.
Lough Sheelin, with its huge stock of large native brown trout is also less than an hour away.
The incomparable Moy river, known and fished by anglers from all over the world, is unmatched for the thousands of salmon it yields every year and is less than one and a half hours away. (In 2010 it yielded 12,000 salmon)
There is a wealth of local knowledge available within the local community as fishing is serious business in this part of the world.
So, whether you like to fish from a boat or stand on a shaded bank, the Shannon Erne Waterway has something for you.
